The short version: Tactus doesn't collect, store, sell or share any of your personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Everything the app does happens on your iPhone and Apple Watch.
Who we are
Tactus is made by Jon Roy, trading as Casual Fridays (casualfridays.co.uk), based in the United Kingdom. If you have any questions about this policy, email admin@casualfridays.co.uk.
Microphone
Tactus asks for microphone access to power three features:
- Tuner — to detect the pitch of the note you're playing.
- Auto-detect BPM and the play-along drift meter — to hear the beat of live music or your own playing.
- Stage monitor — to pass your microphone through to your headphones with EQ applied.
Audio is processed in real time, in memory, on your device. It is never recorded, saved to a file, or sent anywhere. When you leave these features, audio processing stops. You can turn microphone access off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone; the metronome works fine without it.
Apple Watch
The Apple Watch companion talks directly to the Tactus app on your paired iPhone using Apple's own watch connectivity, to keep tempo and settings in sync and deliver haptic beats. This data stays between your own devices and is not sent to us or anyone else.
Settings and preferences
Your preferences — things like tempo, time signature, tuning presets and EQ — are stored locally on your device so they're there next time you open the app. They're removed if you delete the app.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising or ad identifiers.
- No analytics, tracking or third-party SDKs.
- No in-app purchases.
- No selling or sharing of data — there's nothing to sell.
Crash reports
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports to us through App Store Connect. These contain technical information about the crash only and don't identify you. This is controlled entirely by Apple and your device settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements).
Children
Tactus is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information, it collects none from children either.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights over any personal data held about you. As Tactus doesn't collect any, there's normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete — but if you contact us by email, we'll only use your email to reply, and will delete it on request. If you're unhappy with how we've handled anything, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If Tactus ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
