The short version: Firstlight doesn't collect, sell or share your personal data. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your universe is saved on your own device.
Who we are
Firstlight: Void to Life is made by Jon Roy, trading as Casual Fridays (casualfridays.co.uk), based in the United Kingdom. Questions about this policy: admin@casualfridays.co.uk.
Your saved game
Your universe, Codex discoveries, learned recipes, stats and settings (sound and game speed) are stored locally on your device — in the app's own storage on iOS, or in your browser's local storage if you play on the web. None of it is sent to us. Deleting the app, or clearing your browser's site data, removes it.
Game Center (iOS)
On iPhone and iPad, Firstlight uses Apple's Game Center for achievements. If you're signed in to Game Center, Apple handles your player profile and achievement progress under Apple's privacy policy. We don't receive your Apple ID, name or email. You can sign out of Game Center at any time in Settings → Game Center, and the game plays exactly the same without it.
Purchases
Firstlight is a paid app. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store — we never see your payment details. There are no in-app purchases.
Playing on the web
The free browser demo at casualfridays.co.uk loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request (see Google's privacy policy). Like any website, our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. We don't use cookies, analytics or trackers on the game.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-up.
- No advertising or ad identifiers.
- No analytics, tracking or third-party SDKs in the app.
- No access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos.
- No selling or sharing of data.
Crash reports
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports to us through App Store Connect. These contain technical information only and don't identify you.
Children
Firstlight is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights over personal data held about you. We don't hold any from the game itself — if you email us, we'll only use your address to reply and will delete it on request. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If anything changes that affects your privacy, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
